Why is it so grounding to return to the landscape of your origins?  Even if life there was complex and unstable.

The bright, strong colors of these paintings evoke the noble elements on the periodic table—the most stabile elements.

The Ohio landscape represents a stable element in my past, a constant amidst the changes and upheavals of life there.

But more than that, the vividness of these colors surprises me, reminding me of the way children see the world, unfiltered and full of life.

These colors create a bridge between the past and present, connecting my childhood landscape with the complexities of memory.
